Updated October 28, 2024

The Red River Valley Juvenile Center (RRVJC) located in Crookston, MN, is currently accepting Non-Secure & Secure detention placements from member & non-member counties.

Secure Detention

The Red River Valley Juvenile Center (RRVJC) will begin accepting secure detention placements on Wednesday, October 30th at 8:00 am.  The RRVJC has 8 secure beds which can be used for housing male and female adolescents with delinquency charges, court holds, probation violations, behavioral evaluations and program placements.  During the initial months of reopening, secure detention placements from non-member counties may be limited to allow employees to become acclimated with operational changes and to closely monitor the milieu of the facility.

If you are in need of a secure detention bed, please contact RRVJC Staff at 218-470-8327.  Please note, Minnesota Statute 260B.176 requires the completion of a risk assessment instrument prior to placement in a secure detention setting to determine whether a child should be released or detained.  This risk assessment must be completed prior to transport or upon arrival to the facility.  RRVJC staff will gather needed information from placement agencies to score the risk assessment instrument.

Please contact RRVJC Program Director Kyle Allen at 218-470-8321 or kyle.allen@co.polk.mn.us with any questions you may have or if you need additional information.
